I'm not a vegetarian, actually, from what I remember I have been eating meat of any color since I was a kid. My mother used, I think she still, to get upset if she didn't have meat to make lunch, which was the main meal back at home, when the whole family sat down to eat, and enjoy the ciesta time during the work day. Old good times.
As I get older I have been through living experiences that keep changing my life. I have learned, and still learning how to take care of myself. Exercise and eating well are part of that strategy, but also, entertain myself watching movies or documentaries, to have the mental sanity to take and make good choices. I keep myself "young" because, as Dr. Maya Angelou says, as long as I want to learn, and have the desire to discover things, that fresh attitude is going to keep you young. I know nothing, and I want to know better, because I want to do better, and of course, I want to stay young.
This past Friday, I watched the documentary Food, Inc., www.foodincmovie.com and I realized that I don't know a lot of things about the food industry, and how much it is affecting my life. From the choices I make about the food I eat to the over all health issue we are dealing right now. What we eat, right now, is determining in "high proportion" the state of our health.
I do not want to say much about it, because that is not the purpose of this note, but actually, to invite and encourage you to watch the documentary Food, Inc. WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE, WE DO HAVE POWER TO MAKE THEM HAPPEN. Individually, we can, each of us, make a few changes, little by little, in order to help ourselves, other people, animals and the environment. Nothing happens overnight, it requires small actions. Don't overflow your brain with more stuff to do, but next time you are at the supermarket have a good time buying your food. Spend sometime reading a little bit the labels, and believe that WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
Please, watch the documentary Food, Inc. I have no doubt it can teach you one or two things. They have also a page on Facebook, check it out if you are part of the social site.
Besos,
Juan Carlos
