Let me just say this in a VERY SIMPLE English, but after watching the documentary Food, Inc., I have decided that we, as consumers, have the power to change things, and take control of our lives, and send messages to our government and the food industry. I was searching for offers, and good prices through the newspaper, and I found Perdue Roasting Chicken at Shaws for 99 cents a pound. Wait a minute, Perdue? I think that is one of the companies in the food industry presented on the documentary as not being very nice to animals, I told to myself. Let me check a few things on the Food, Inc, the movie, website www.foodincmovie.com ,and I found among other things, this part of a review by David Edelstein of the New York Magazine,
" The sheer scale of the movie is mind-blowing—it touches on every aspect of modern life. It’s the documentary equivalent of The Matrix: It shows us how we’re living in a simulacrum, fed by machines run by larger machines with names like Monsanto, Perdue, Tyson, and the handful of other corporations that make everything. We humans can win, but we should hurry, before Monsanto makes a time machine and sends back a Terminator to get rid of Schlosser and Pollan."
Anyways, not to Shaws, and definitely, NOT to Perdue. Let's take control of our lives, our health and our destiny. Watch the documentary to get the facts. It is on Nextflix as one of those movies you can play on your computer. Totally worth it.
