My audience was my other fellow actor last night at the Playwrights' Platform Summer Festival (I do a monologue) and I couldn't ask for a better one. Their eyes, their faces, their bodies gave me exactly what I was giving them, my best, their best.
That was my post on Facebook the day after I did perform my first night, last night, not even 24 hours ago, and I keep seeing the faces of some of the audience members. My heart was beating fast right before I went on the stage, but then I breathe, the lights on, and all disappeared.
I see their faces, I feel their attention, and they want to know about my story. Not really my story, I am the actor performing the story of Jose, and it is magical to “see” the words flying, it is magical to trust my mind and forget about the script. The script is there, just relax and tell the story they want to hear. It is magical to turn my head to the left, and then to the right, up and down and their faces pay attention to myself, and what I am “talking” to them. They are my partner. They are giving me their best, and I only can give them my best. Happy lines, funny lines, sad lines, and by the end I smiled.
Acting is my passion, my talent, I.
